For carry-on luggage, I want something lightweight, smooth-rolling, and with external pockets for electronics, passports, books, or anything else you want to keep handy. My carry-on also gets a lot more use than checked bags, so I want to be sure it’s durable enough to last for hundreds of trips.
That’s why rolling carry-on luggage is my favorite choice. Rather than spinner luggage (which has four swivel wheels), rolling luggage has two bigger, beefier wheels that can take a lot more abuse.
The Travelpro Maxlite 5 22” Carry-On doesn’t really look like anything special at first glance. To be honest, there isn’t anything particularly extraordinary about this bag. It’s design is fairly basic, with standard features. The materials are good, but nothing special. The styling looks good, but definitely doesn’t stand out in a crowd.
Still, this may be my favorite suitcase on this list. Why? Because it just works… really well. There are no unnecessary frills to overcomplicate things (or break).
