Are you thinking of booking a holiday in the Dominican Republic this year? The Dominican Republic is a beautiful holiday destination to travel to that many holiday makers flock to each year. Following on from the beaches, many will have a whole range of water sports that you can get involved with. From jet skiing to kayaking, wakeboarding to parasailing, they have endless possibilities when it comes to the water sports scene.

If you consider yourself an adrenaline junkie, a water baby or simply like to spend your time out at sea taking part in different sports, you’ll love it here. There are many different water sports that you can take part in, some of which you may have never heard of before.

If you are completely new to some of the more difficult ones, you could take on a beginner’s session. More advanced users could choose to enjoy them by themselves depending on what water sports they like. If you are unsure about which water sports to try, make sure you research the local beaches and see what they offer before venturing out. Some hotel resorts may offer their own water sports for you to try. 

Explore the Capital City

When visiting the Dominican Republic, you have to factor some time into exploring Santo Domingo, their capital city. Here you can explore their culture, dine in some exceptional restaurants, learn about the Dominican Republic through their museums and wander along the cobbled streets.

You can spend many hours if not days in the city, discovering new things to see and do. You could split your time when staging in the Dominican Republic and book a beachfront hotel for a few days and a hotel in the city for the remaining days of your break away.

The Food

If you are someone who loves their food and considers yourself a foodie, then you’ll be in heaven when visiting the Dominican Republic. There are many restaurants for you to dine in, all cooking local food as well as different cultural cuisines.

Whether you are visiting the city or staying in a resort, most are known for preparing delicious meals, a great way to introduce you to the cuisine in the Dominican Republic.

Traditional dishes in the Dominican Republic include Mangú con Los Tres Golpes, Puerco Asado, Asopao and more. If you speak to the locals when visiting, they will be able to tell you where the best places to visit to eat the local food would be.
